In the Martin Luther King speech many topics were brought to light. One specific topic was about racism in the Nation, and how people of color did not have fair rights. The time period this speech took place was sensitive; their was a "war" between how the people of color should be treated compared to the whites. This speech was the most powerful of it's time as many people who understand the severity of the situation may call it. The reasons behind the power of the speech was nonetheless about how eloquently and hopeful King saw the future of America. King was a man of faith, hopefulness, and peace which made his way of uniting people dangerous to those who wanted power.  In regards to Barack Obama's speech on the 50th anniversary of MLK's speech, it would be considered nearly as powerful as King's.  Hey! My name is Allyson Merchan. I'm a incoming Freshman to NJCU as most of you are. Here's a couple of things to know about me; my ethnicity is Colombian (mother's side) and Ecuadorian (father's side). I was born and raised in Jersey City for 15 years until I moved to Roselle Park. I am very quiet at first which is what most people say about me; however, after getting to know me, I am very outspoken and giggly.
